Waves for Change (W4C) provides child friendly mental health services in communities where mental health services are under-resourced and stigmatized. Steadily growing their presence across South Africa, W4C had engaged 321 households in 2016, giving those children counseling which, in turn, helped the children feel happier and more confident. Teachers reported better behavior in school. TIAS ARMS welcomes W4C in our first year of support. TIAS ARMS has given funds specifically to provide a haven for girls. Girls are victimized at a high rate in South Africa and our funds allow them to go to and from the W4C locations safely. We look forward to reporting on the success of our help.
